Opening Prayer:  We sang the Doxology and gave thanks for Louisa Mary, JoElla’s newborn baby girl.

Agenda:

Kevin outlined the four most important things we could do and do well to encourage church growth and to evangelize:

·         Start a second service.

·         Continue in the family atmosphere we’ve developed and mentor newcomers to encourage them to return.

·         Provide a nursery.

·         Offer a class on Evangelism such as a class based on the book Out of the Salt Shaker, as we are doing.

Kevin announced that Alan Hanson of Acts 29 is available to lead a workshop on Evangelism on Tuesday, November 17.  It was moved and seconded by Cavin and Bruce we spend the $300 to host him.  Motion carried.  A steering committee to include Kevin, Curry, Moheb and JoElla was formed  a follow up program to the workshop together.

Darlene contacted Birchwood Presbyterian Church and Garden Street Methodist to question them about their nursery program.  Darlene, Kevin and JoElla will work together to firm up a nursery program.

It was moved and seconded by Moheb and Cavin to move our 9:00am service to 10:00am.  Motion carried.  There will be a short homily this Sunday and then the time change will be opened for discussion with the congregation.

The Alpha program was explored further.  On October 10 there will be an Alpha gathering in Bellevue to review the Alpha program.  Birchwood Presbyterian Church will hold a training program next spring to train leaders for the fall.  This would enable us to aim towards a program of our own in 2010.  Vestry gave Curry the authority to proceed…to approach people to commit to being leaders.
