Planning Discussion:

  • Vestry Nominations Committee – As per the Vestry term schedule, there are four vacancies for 2010-2011.  Three of the four vacancies can re-up if they desire.  The fourth vacancy is a new position.  Candidates will be selected by the next Vestry meeting and elected at the Annual Meeting.

  • Annual Meeting - The Annual Meeting will be Sunday May 16, which is St. Brendan’s Day.  There will be a potluck, election of officers, a financial report and state of the parish report.

  • Vestry Retreat – Vestry Retreat will be June 4 and 5.  The evening of Friday June 4 will be a social gathering.  We will meet on Saturday June 5 at the Bellingham Cold Storage.  We will brainstorm an agenda for the Vestry Retreat at the next Vestry meeting.

Clergy Report – Fr. Kevin:

Holy Week and Easter have been advertized in the Bellingham Herald.

Kevin+ will hold a Good Friday service at 3:00 pm at WWU.

Gerry will be the preacher for the Good Friday service.

The lay preachers for the Lenten series have been well received.

Paris Johnson, recipient of the Bellingham Yacht Club’s “Sink the Dinghy Fund” scholarship from the Lighthouse Mission Discipleship program, tested very well in the placement test at BCC and is fully enrolled.

Argentina in the Diocese of Recife (DOR) in undergoing extreme financial hardship.  The churches in DOC are urged to pray about their situation.  It has been recommended to all churches to collect an offering.  Kevin+ will contact Bishop Boyce regarding the specifics of their need as we need a clearer idea of the details of our involvement.

Relay For Life – Bob:

This year Relay for Life will be held July 9 and 10.  The congregation will be given the opportunity to contribute toward the $1,000 needed to qualify for sponsorship.  It was moved and seconded (JoElla/Trevor) for St. Brendan’s to backstop the needed contribution if necessary.  Motion carried.

Ministry/Committee Reports:

Children’s Ministries – Darlene:  We will need a sub for Brittany during the summer.  Our group of volunteers has grown quite thin.

Communication – Kevin:  The Herald has our 2” x 3” ad for Easter.

We still need to change our Sunday service time on our street sign.

New Member Ministry – Cavin:  No report at this time.

Facilities – Cavin:  No report at this time.

Faith Formation – (Kevin+):  The newcomer welcome was very successful.  People responded saying that “We felt like a family.”

Outreach – Cavin:  Argentina in DOR of the Southern Cone needs financial assistance.

Pastoral Care – Kevin+:  There is a need to recruit and train lay Eucharist ministers to take Eucharist to shut ins.

Worship – Kevin+ and Trevor:  Eric Lane has completed his acolyte training.

Closing Prayer was led by Fr. Kevin

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Hess
