Clergy Report

Father Kevin

Several new families have joined our congregation.

Hats off to Trevor for the new additions to our web site.

Our youth group is engaged in several fun activities.  Shortly before Easter they will put our door knob hangers on the doors of the houses in the neighborhood around the SDA Church.

Our application to become a member of the Diocese of Cascadia will be mailed in soon.  The lecture series to be held on the WWU Campus is coming up soon and has been enthusiastically received.

Pastor Pam

There was no report from Pastor Pam.

Ministry/Committee Reports

Children’s Ministries – Darlene The question was raised over whether there would be enough time for church school class if the children remained in church for a short time with Kevin before processing out for class and then returning in time for Communion.  There was no decision made at this time.

Communication – Kevin Kevin and his committee will meet tomorrow, March 20.

New Member Ministry – Cavin Cavin emphasized the importance of new people being met and engaged, and this to be followed up at coffee hour.  He also believes that the Vestry members who are doing the greeting must send new people thank you cards.

Facilities – Jan There is no report at this time.

Faith Formation – Gerry The Renovare’ Bible Series being used has been well received.  He’s gotten good feedback from the members of the two classes.

Outreach – Cavin – International There is a Five Talents mission trip to Kenya and Uganda planned for May 16 to 29.  Five Talents is feeling the financial pinch but things are still on track.

Pastoral Care – Kevin Lay intercessory prayers during the worship service for those asking for prayers has been generally well received.  Some discomfort has been expressed by those who aren’t comfortable offering prayers.  It was suggested that several volunteers be ready to offer up prayers, thereby avoiding an awkward silence.

Worship – Kevin Kevin outlined the various services to be held during Holy Week.  We’ll have a Maundy Thursday dinner with Eucharist followed by the stripping of the altar.  A Good Friday service will be held at 7:00 pm. on the WWU Campus.  Our Easter Sunday service will be held at 9:00 am at the SDA Church.

There will be a Celtic worship service for St. Brendan’s Sunday.

Kevin expressed special thanks to Misty and the fabulous job she did on behalf of the Vestry for the inventory she took recently of our accumulated goods.  The replacement value is estimated at $30,000+.

It was moved and seconded by Bob and Trevor that Vestry provide up to $1,000 for Gerry for travel expenses and a gift for his ordination to the diaconate in Poulsbo and to give the congregation the opportunity to contribute as well.  Motion carried.

The Closing Prayer was led by Gerry

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Hess
