St Brendan's Anglican Church

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe and teach that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God and it is through Jesus Christ alone, in the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit by which we are saved and receive eternal life.

We believe that Holy Scripture is the authoritative Word of God containing all things necessary for our salvation.  It contains the principles by which we live and through which the power of the Holy Spirit transforms lives.

We believe the Nicene, Apostle’s and Anthanasius Creeds truthfully summarizes the principles of our faith.

We believe we are called to discipleship and we are commanded to make disciples of all people by our witness to the risen Jesus.

We believe the Holy Spirit equips each Christian for ministry.  We are to use these spiritual gifts and abilities in service to Christ and His Church.

We believe our response to God’s gifts is to offer ourselves, our time, talent and resources to spread the Gospel and to help people in need.

We believe that God receives and uses our prayers to transform, heal and restore lives. Prayer is a priority in our corporate worship and personal life.

We believe that we must love one another as Christ loves us.

We believe we are to serve one another with love as exemplified by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We are committed to traditional Anglican worship in Word and Sacrament as found in the Book of Common Prayer. The Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist are intrinsic to our corporate life.  The Sacraments of Confirmation, Ordination, Holy Matrimony, Reconciliation and Anointing for healing are considered graces given by God for the people of God.
